From the Arc de Triomphe, Paris
France, Paris, Sony A7R
OK, so call me dumb. I have been to Paris more times than I can count, but until recently I didn’t realize you could actually go to the top and see views of Paris from there. Well I paid the 9 Euros and went to the top for views like the one below. It occurred to me while I was up there that the star (etoile) plan that the French employed for the road system really did profoundly affect the city plan of Paris. I compare it New York, settled by the Dutch. The rectangular road designs Avenues running north/south and Streets running east/west makes it super easy to get around New York. Paris, by contrast, is much harder to get around.
