It was interesting going from Lima, Peru where it is basically a desert to Santiago (and then to Zapallar). Same coast but completely different feel. Zapallar is a small little holiday village just north of Valparaiso. It reminded me so much of two other coastlines.  The one being Carmel by the Sea in Northern California (17 mile drive) and the other was the Western Cape. I was there at midday which is not the best time to take photos. However, this is a very quaint village that is well worth visiting. I could have easily chilled out there for sometime.
